Established by Mark Jeyakumar, a legal practitioner with a deep passion for criminal and civil law, the firm was built on the belief that every individual deserves a fearless advocate and fair representation—regardless of the complexity of their case.

What began as a vision to defend the rights of the accused and resolve civil disputes with integrity has grown into a firm known for its strategic thinking, clear communication, and results-driven approach. Since its inception, J.M. Mark has handled a range of criminal cases—from serious charges to white-collar offences—alongside complex civil matters, including disputes, claims, and advisory work.

Mark Jeyakumar began his legal journey as a pupil under the late Gerard Lazarus, a respected and formidable figure in the Klang legal community. Under Mr. Lazarus' guidance, Mark gained early exposure to the rigours of criminal litigation and the importance of principled advocacy. It was during this formative time that he developed a deep respect for the law and the responsibility it carries in defending the rights of the accused.

Eager to refine his expertise in criminal law, Mark went on to join Datuk N. Sivananthan, one of Malaysia’s leading criminal lawyers renowned for his work in complex drug-related offences. As a Legal Associate, Mark was immersed in high-stakes cases and learned first-hand the precision, strategy, and resilience required in serious criminal defence work.

Armed with a solid foundation from two of Malaysia’s most respected legal minds, Mark established J.M. Mark in 2023—a firm committed to delivering sharp, ethical, and results-focused legal representation in both criminal and civil law.
